I used a sketch from Scrapbook Challenges. I can tell that I will get a lot of use from my hexagon dies. I had fun picking the patterned paper for this layout.

I ran a bit low on Thickers, so I decided to use one of the chipboard words as my title on this page.

I originally thought I would use the navy/aqua polka-dot side of the patterned paper for this page, but it turns out that it was a bit too bold, so I went with the other side.

It was great to use this 2002 paper with paper I bought a month ago.

I used a layout from Creating Keepsakes as a sketch for this page. It was a great way to use up some random photos I have of my boy.

So that’s what I did with my kit. I still had several scraps, stickers, bling, and washi tape once I was finished.

Here’s what I liked about this challenge.

• Being limited with patterned paper and cardstock worked really well. It forced me to mix and match and try combinations I might not have tried.
• It felt fabulous to use some of my longtime stash paper. I spent good money on the paper, and I’m glad to have used it rather than let it go to waste.
• It was fun to get creative with titles.

Here are some things I’d do differently next time.

• I have a really, really hard time limiting myself on embellishments. I think the next time I do a challenge like this, I will be more selective of the embellishments I use. I’d probably make a couple of choices for the kit, and then I’d add other supplies as needed.
• By the end of this challenge, I was so sick of these supplies. I just wanted to be done. LOL.

So the end result is this: I would definitely do this again, but probably not more than once every couple of months. I would also spend more time putting the kit together. And finally, I would not restrict myself on accessories.

Just for fun, here are all of the layouts I did for this challenge.

This photo is from a date I had in high school where a boy took me to a Utah Jazz game. I have a lot of research to do before I can journal. I need to find my journal from that time so I can remember who took me on the date and what player this is. LOL.

This is a pretty simple layout. I didn’t do much in the way of journaling because I’ve already scrapbooked other photos from this day and didn’t have much to add.

I’ve had these photos of my boys for a while and am so glad to finally scrapbook them. There’s no way they would be able to share a treat like this today, so it’s a fun memory.

The contents of the kit changed a little. I didn’t use the buttons or the stamps, so I felt justified in adding some washi tape and mist.

Anyway, here is the first layout.

This layout has a stashometer rating of 38%. Interesting story behind the patterned paper. I bought it several years ago thinking it would be perfect for my trip to England. I haven’t made the trip yet, but I finally used a sheet of it.

I used a Designs by Diana sketch and also submitted this layout for the triangle challenge at Scrapbook Challenges.

Once I pulled out the supplies from the kit and put them with the photos, I wasn’t so sure about the giant flower patterned paper. I decided to go with it anyway. It may not be the best choice, but it works OK. Sometimes that’s enough. The stashometer rating is 38%.

The sketch I used (by Ashley Rock) made a big difference. It turned out to be perfect for the photos I had. From there, it was simply a matter of putting the pieces together. Being able to use a chevron pattern was a fun bonus, but I also enjoyed the dog-themed rub-ons and hexagon stickers.

No stashometer rating on this layout, but I’m happy to finally get these photos scrapped.

I used a sketch by Creative Scrappers along with a photo I’ve had for a while. This layout has a stashometer rating of 30% because of the older patterned papers I used. Even better is having another page completed.

I looked at the sketch and saw the flower clusters, but I didn’t want to do flowers. So then I remembered the bird layout (linked above) and it hit me: I could do bat clusters instead. So this was a rare case where the product choice drove the rest of the layout.

What makes this layout even more satisfying for me is that the stashometer rating is 55%. I’ve had the confetti and the paper I used for the large and small circles for ages. Out it goes!

I’m going to use coral as long as I keep loving it. Use it while you love it; that’s one of my scrapping philosophies. Anyway, I made this page for the Two Peas challenge to use Polaroid shapes on a layout. It’s also for the 52 Walks prompt of “cloud” at Scrapbook Challenges. I couldn’t get over how amazing the color of the sunset looked, so that’s how I came up with the title for the page.

The letters didn’t turn out as I hoped. I painted them with white crackle paint and then added coral mist. It added a very light coral tint but not the dark splash I hoped for. The mist also made the paint chip a bit in some places. You learn as you go, I guess.

But before I start my scrapbooking spree, I’m posting another layout in my do-over series.

The original layout is below. I created this a couple of years ago for a challenge but never got around to finishing it. I like the heart but this layout seemed too plain, which makes it a perfect choice for a do over.

I start by pulling some pink papers out of my scraps. I have an idea in mind for the design that will incorporate hearts, just a bit differently.

Maybe I should go with a pink background as well? Um, no.

Maybe grey? And perhaps I’ll add in these smaller papers.

Still not completely happy with the background color. Let’s try a paper with a sharp contrast. Yes, this is it.

Now I do some stitching with my new sewing machine. Love using this! I stitch a straight border around each of the hearts. I play around with the positioning of the hearts and photos until I’m happy with them. Unfortunately, my adhesive pulled up a chunk of the patterned paper on the middle left. The stitching in that area is also a bit quirky, so I’d like to cover that a little.

I have covered the two problem areas and created a title. I also decide to add some of the heart stickers that were used on the first layout.

With the addition of journaling, the page is finished.

And with that, I have completed another layout and used several scraps in the bargain.
